Adams Township Woman Charged In Counterfeit Credit Card Scheme

An Adams Township woman is one of three area residents indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of conspiracy to use counterfeit credit cards, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced Thursday.

The one-count indictment returned July 24, named Janie M. Bey, 53, of Adams Point Boulevard; Devin Alexander Murphy, 23, of First Street, Aliquippa and Rayvon Oscar Kyles, 21, of Heights Road, Aliquippa as defendants.

According to the indictment, the three used counterfeit credit cards at stores in Western Pennsylvania between June 2010 and June 2011.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $250,00 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendants.

Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. Inspectors from the United States Postal Inspection Service and agents from the United States Secret Service part of the Western Pennsylvania Financial Crimes Task Force conducted the investigation that led to the indictment in this case.
