Sunflower Sprouts' Opening Corresponds With National Frugal Fun Day!

National Frugal Fun Day is Saturday, October 5 this year.  It’s very appropriate that the day just also happens to be the public opening of the region’s largest semi-annual children’s consignment sale in the North Hills.  Sunflower Sprouts returns to the Northway Mall from October 5 – 12, with special advance shopping times for select groups on October 4.   Frugal Fun Day is designated as a day for families to enjoy fun activities that are free or very inexpensive.

“Shopping is a fun activity for most moms.  When you add in the huge savings on new and gently used items specifically targeted to families with children from newborn to teen, you get a really fun shopping experience that is the definition of being frugal,” says sale co-owner Jennifer Hill.    “Our event draws families from over two hours away, as we have gained a great reputation for outstanding quality used items that are just recycled from family to family in a great ecofriendly way,” adds Lesley Bruns, co-owner.

Since launching the business three years ago, the sale has quickly grown from 67 consignors and a handful of volunteers, to 350 consignors and more than 250 volunteer spots filled.  Thousands of people shop at the sale, with special designated shopping times for volunteers, consignors, New Moms, Grandmothers, and Homeschool Families.  Word of mouth is the heart and soul of the company’s advertising.  “Moms love to tell other moms about the ways that they are saving their families money these days, and consigning your kids’ outgrown items is a great way to make money on things you have just packed away in storage, or lying around the garage”, says Ms. Hill.
