January is traditionally a month where we are recovering from the holidays, striving to keep New Year's resolutions and some of us even go as far as reorganizing our living space.
Me, I am a disorganized mess that finds comfort in chaos so, you won't find me taking part in new year/new me goals.
I'm finding this post holiday month barren. No motivation or inspiration, no photos taken, nor art being made. In an effort to remove my creative block, I decided to be like those early explorers with impossible Spanish and Italian last names. I left my house and ventured out into the world.

No worries, you don't have to go far to find inspiration.
Visit an antique shop, they are filled with beautiful and curious objects that will capture your imagination. I highly recommend "liking" Wexford General Store Antiques on Facebook. They daily post several eye catching photos.

On my last inspiration excursion I purchased a Victorian easel at Dunn's on Route 68 in Harmony. So far, I have not placed a blank canvas on the easel, but I must say the ornate antique sure looks good in the corner of my studio!
The Carnegie Art Museum has several "worth the drive" to Pittsburgh exhibits. Inventing the Modern World: Decorative Arts at the World's Fair 1851-1939, is a DO NOT MISS!
My whole family was captivated by this exhibit. The show is a mixture of furniture, glass wear, ceramics, textiles and jewelry.
While at the museum be sure to also visit the exhibit, Handmade:Contemporary Craft in Ceramics, Glass and Wood.
Click on the link for one of the wonderful objects in the World's Fair exhibit. I tried to take photos of the exhibit, but the staff shut me down. Take heart, there is a very nice coffee table worthy catalogue of the show for sale in the gift shop.
