From Your Patch Editor: Thank You, Readers

Well, it’s been a wonderful ride.

Tuesday, Oct. 15, will be my last day as editor of Cranberry Patch. Patch is reorganizing and the plan does not include having local editors oversee the Pittsburgh Patch sites.

I have no regrets. It's been a delight to cover the community in which I live for the past three years. Your kind words at meetings and events, your news tips and your comments are all deeply appreciated.

This job has allowed me to meet some terrific people and cover some amazing stories. Truly, this is a special community.

With that said, I still strongly believe in hyper-local news. In the coming months (including a break once my first baby is born in December), I plan to continue to report on the happenings in the Cranberry area from another platform.

In the meantime, Cranberry Patch is not going away.

Patch is reviewing alternatives for some of its sites, including this one, so rest assured you will still be able to continue to use your Patch to post your blogs, events and announcements.

If you'd like to stay in touch, I can be reached at Jessica.Sinichak@acrosscranberry.com.

I hope to hear from you. See you around town!

Without a local editor, I am sure we won't get the up to date information that we counted on. We will miss you, but don't stay away to long! :) I hope your new "local platform" happens soon!

Good luck with the birth of your baby. Love the Patch and you as editor. Looking forward to your new platform! Oh and check out cosita linda photography webpage. I think she does fantastic baby photography from what I've seen on her Facebook page.

Good luck in your new venture and the birth of your baby! I'm sure that things will be very different not having editors on a local level. Will have to see if I stay with it or not. I'll be watching for your new page!

You will be greatly missed!

Sorry to hear this. I really enjoyed the Patch and the news you provided. If it weren't for your updates I wouldn't know half of what was going on in the area. Good luck with Across Cranberry- I'll be sure to follow along! And best wishes to you and your baby- very exciting stuff!

Are you kidding? No local editors? I can't imagine that we'll be nearly as connected to the community as we are now. Well, it's interesting timing with your baby coming — it is all meant to be. I look forward to your new venture as I'm sure it will be better than the Patch. Good luck!!!

I can't imagine the patch being nearly effective without a local editor. You WERE the patch as far as most of us knew/cared. Well, I'll be watching for Across Cranberry! :) best wishes for a happy healthy delivery.

SO sad to hear you will no longer be with the Patch. You have done a great job and I know that my friends and I have talked about the wonderful job you do. Looking forward to your next endeavor and congratulations.

Jessica - Thank you so much for helping me post St. Ferdinand Church events - your support was A-1 terrific! It doesn't seem right for Patch to drop local editors - you proved your job, in many deeds and tireless work that the community needs a caring local editor on Patch, especially YOU. Wishing you a great future. I'm going to miss you, a-lot!

Good luck with everything Jessica! You can be very proud of the work you did here. Much appreciated!

Well, Patch is just plain foolish in their decision to do this. THEIR loss AND ours!! I won't be reading it much anymore & will certainly find you on Across Cranberry on FB. Sounds like all is falling into place with a new baby coming anyway....no rushing out at midnight to snap pics & write an article so we all know what happened the night before.

So sorry to hear this. Apparently the green eye shade bean counters think they can run a local operation from some master facility in Calcutta or the like. My money is not on them and not much of my attention.
Deb Ramage October 15, 2013 at 01:40 PM
I agree Art!!
Chris F October 15, 2013 at 04:37 PM
I can't see that the patch site will be as useful without local reporting. I'll definitely check out Across Cranberry.
Jessica Repp October 16, 2013 at 04:28 PM
Well, Jess, there should be no doubt as to what a great job you've done here! As your friend and reader, I thoroughly enjoyed everyone's comments and support! Across Cranberry should be awesome as long as you're involved!!
Ruth Pagenhardt October 18, 2013 at 01:01 AM
Another brilliant management decision! Jess, we will miss you and the Patch will not be the same. How they think they don't need a local editor is beyond most logical thinking. Their loss - we will follow you and I, for one, will not be reading the Patch any longer.
