I brought my dog(chihuahua) on 9/5/2013(Thurs)for minor skin irritation, he was seen by Doctor Morgan.
Previous week, they did blood work on him for his upcoming dental work prep. His blood work shows everything was fine and on Thurs day they gave him shot(Dexamethasone) and also prescribed Temaril-P and told me to give him for 2 weeks. I asked vet. if it is going to be ok, (shot plus antishistamine) , my pet Taco is only 11 lb and I just want to make sure he is ok since we are plan to take him on family vacation following week. I was told it will be ok, told to give him Temaril twice per day. Next day (Fri)I started give him Temaril, on Sunday night shortly after taking 2nd dose Taco had 2 seizures. We were so scared that he will die!!!! I called Hufnagle clinic, it transfer me to emergency clinic, vet told me to bring him in if he have another seizure but he did not have another seizure that night. My dog Taco, never had any kind of health issues in his entire life(12 yrs) and I was so scared & upset over the incident, I wanted to find out about Temaril tablets. according to national pet pharmacy, What I found out was that Temaril -P side effects include sewelling, vomiting and including shock, seizures or coma. Had I known these side effects, I would not have agreed give him the pill. when I asked them if it is necessary for them to give shot plus Temail for such a small dog they told me it is going to be ok and they charged me $78.
After sleepless harrowing night of my beloved dog, next morning I called the clinic and was told vet was not in. I explained to young lady that Taco was seen by them on Thursday and given Temaril for skin irritation and on 3rd day he had seizures. I told her that after my research about Temaril does have side effects (seizures) and I feel his seizures were related to Temaril-p. I wanted to speak to the Vet and I feel that they should examine him. I waited all day after several phone calls, Vets never returned my call and I was told by receptionist that if I want to bring my dog to be examined by them that they will have to charge me again. I was not able to speak to any vet from the clinic and there was no empathy for my pet they were only concern about money. When I expressed my disappointment, told her that I don't plan to bring my pet to the clinic she was getting smart with me & told me that "What Ever!". I am very disappointed of the treatment i received and I want to make everybody aware if you are thinking about bring your pet to Hufnagel clinic.
