Prima Yoga Holding 'Karma Class' for Cranberry CUP

Donation classes are held once a month at the studio in Cranberry.

In an effort to get more people involved in yoga, and donate to a good cause, Prima Yoga in Cranberry is holding “karma” classes on the last Friday every month.

For these classes, participants are asked to donate $5. All the proceeds go to local charities.

“We’re trying to make yoga more accessible to everybody,” said Prima Yoga owner Jamie Malinowski.

For the class on Friday, July 26, the donations will benefit the nonprofit Cranberry CUP.

Founded more than a decade ago by township resident Cathy Cortazzo, the organization holds a neighborhood softball tournament and golf outing to support a local family. This year’s beneficiary is the Longs, of Cranberry.

The CUP kicks off Aug. 2, 3 and 4. The 5K race also takes place at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3.

Malinowski said she decided to donate to the CUP at the suggestion of her students. For prior Karma classes, her students also led her to donate to other area organizations, including the Evans City food bank.

“I had a lot of people asking to donate to local charities,” she said. “I would rather know we’re helping people right in our own community.”

Malinowski said the Karma sessions include drinks, snacks, wine and beer after class.

“All the donation classes have been really busy,” she said.
