Member Spotlight: Ironman Kenny Lehman and Run for God

Fountain Park Church's own Ironman Kenny Lehman participated in the 2012 Ironman Lake Placid and heads up Run for God men's ministry which is open to the entire community.

Fountain Park Church's own Kenny Lehman participated in his first Ironman race this past month and we couldn't be happier.

The 2012 Ironman Lake Placid included a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run. It took him about a year to train in each of the disciplines so that he could handle the distances and physical demands of the event.

Kenny says that Lake Placid, NY "is an awesome venue due to the nature and knowing that the 1980 winter Olympics were held there."

Kenny finished the race in 15 hours and 41 minutes, earning the title as Ironman.

To maintain his conditioning, Kenny also will be participating in the Rev3 70.3 on Sept. 9 in Cedar Point which is a half Ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run) and he will also going to be running the Great Race in Pittsburgh late in September with his wife, Sally.

In celebration and support of Kenny Lehman's accomplishment, Fountain Park Church is starting a men's ministry called Run for God.

It is a 12 week bible study and training program that is designed to get the men ready to run a 5K at the end of the study.

Fountain Park already has 17 men that are very eager to get started! The 5K will be at the Pittsburgh Zoo on Nov. 3, and is called Zoo Zillia.

Kenny is heading up the ministry and says "My goal here is to help all 17 men not only get spiritually fit, but also physically fit. We are also going to decide on a local charity that we will raise money for. I am super excited about this program!"
