Fountain Park Church Collecting Hygiene Kit Items for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Fountain Park Church collects items for hygiene kits to help Hurricane Sandy victims.

While the five consecutive days of gloomy skies and rainy weather we have had this week might not be the most uplifting for our spirits, we can all be thankful that we missed what could have been a devastating event had Hurricane Sandy made her way further into our region.

While the pictures of a decimated boardwalk in Atlantic City, the fire ravaged suburban neighborhood of Queens, and a flooded New York are heartbreaking we understand that we can not just sit back and watch other people's suffering play out on our television sets or listen to it on the radio as we are driving from one activity to another.

We must act. We want to act.

Fountain Park Church is collecting valuable items for hygiene kits to be sent to New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and West Virginia as well as other disaster areas.

Please consider picking up a few supplies or making a kit of your own and dropping it off at the church facilities on Peters Road at your convenience.

Let us show our neighbors to the east that Cranberry Township cares and supports them in rebuilding their lives on a foundation of goodwill and compassion.  For less than $10 at the dollar store you could supply three hygiene kits for people in disaster areas.

Personal Hygiene Kit contents include:

  • 1 Hand Towel (approx. 16x28)
  • 1 Washcloth
  • 1 Toothbrush
  • 6 Adhesive bandages
  • 1 Comb
  • 1 Nailclipper
  • 1 Bath size bar of soap (still in original packages)
  • 1 Gallon clear plastic re-sealable bag

"What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?  Can that faith save him?  If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?  So also faith by itself, if it does no have works, is dead." James 2:14-17 (ESV)
