McPharlin Music Shop will host an Open House on Saturday, December 15 from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. at 528 Main Street, Harmony, PA, 15063. Experience the sights and sounds of an authentic “music shop” nestled in the historic town of Harmony. Enjoy live music, meet some artistic minds, and browse an assortment of musical holiday gifts!

Open House guests can enjoy perusing this vibrant shop and all of its musical wares including stringed instruments, accessories and music-centric gift items – all serving as perfect holiday gifts for aspiring and professional musicians. Gift items will include one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry, doggie bandanas, greeting cards and limited copies of Ice Castles: An Adventure In Music signed by the illustrator, Joan Charles.

Stohr Haus Bakery, will be hosting a simultaneous open house … adding delectable homemade German baked goods to the day’s line-up of offerings.

While at the shop, guests will also have the opportunity to meet some of the shop’s music instructors and listen to live music performed by some of the shop’s students and colleagues who will share their talents throughout the day. Performers include dulcimer artist Dave Burke, McPharlin luthier and banjo artist Nic Landon,  young classical guitarist Sydney Ziatek, and country singer/songwriter Frank Vieira. A complete list of performers will be posted and updated regularly on our Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/McPharlinGuitarandViolin?ref=hl

McPharlin Music Shop has made its home in Harmony for 16 years and was formerly known as McPharlin Guitar & Violin. Founders/owners, Bob and Shelley McPharlin, carved out a unique niche by providing repair service as well as instruction for stringed instruments. One year ago, Bob McPharlin passed away and his wife Shelley was left to keep the business and the passion-driven musical journey thriving.

The Open House is a way of commemorating the shop’s history and at the same time, expressing a new beginning. Shelley’s family has rallied to the cause and together they are forging ahead to re-envision the future of the shop, beginning with its new name, McPharlin Music Shop.
