Slick Roads Conditions During Commute Cause Delays, Cancellations

The area is under a winter-weather advisory until 8 a.m.

Local roads are giving us their best impression of a skating rink for Tuesday’s morning commute.

The National Weather Service said residents could expect a mix of freezing rain this morning combined with sleet and snow that will leave roadways coated in ice.

The service has issued a winter-weather advisory through 8 a.m. today warning drivers of slippery roads and limited visibility.

The Seneca Valley School District also is on a two-hour delay with modified kindergarten for Tuesday.

The Cranberry Township Preschool programs also will run on modified schedule, and the Alphabites Program has been canceled.

Temperatures this morning are in the mid-20s, but will rise to close to 40 degrees later today.

Rain showers are expected tonight before 10 p.m. and should turn into snow overnight. Less than an inch is expected.
