Slight Risk of Severe Thunderstorms Forecast

Latest National Weather Service forecast downplays risk.

UPDATE -- The National Weather Service has updated its forecast to warn of only a slight risk of severe thunderstorms with damaging wind and large hail for Monday afternoon and evening.

This morning the weather service issued a statement that said severe storms were expected to move through the Pittsburgh area between 3 and 5 p.m.

An updated forecast at 1 p.m. downplayed the risk, but still predicted showers and thunderstorms.

The forecast also calls for high temperatures in the mid 70s with an 80 percent chance of precipitation.
