Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for the Cranberry Area

The watch remains in effect until 10 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Southwestern Pennsylvania, including Butler, Allegheny and Beaver counties.

The watch remains in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service, which says some storms cound be severe with damaging winds.  

The chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected mainly after 5 p.m. and before midnight.

A hazardous weather outlook is also in effect this week, with frosty and potentially freezing conditions possible on Friday and Saturday nights and possibly Sunday.

  • Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a low around 44. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Friday: A chance of showers, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. North wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Friday Night: Patchy frost after 2am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 36.
  • Saturday: Patchy frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 63.
  • Saturday Night: Patchy frost after 1am. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 35.
  • Sunday: Patchy frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 66.
