Severe Thunderstorm Capable of Producing Damaging Winds Moves Through Area

A warning remains in effect until 6:45 p.m. tonight.

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 6:45 p.m. for southern Butler County, north central Allegheny County, northern Beaver County and southeastern Lawrence County.

The National Weather Service issued the statement at 5:46 p.m.

The severe thunderstorm, which progressed from Ellwood City, is capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

If you are in the path of this storm, the National Weather Service advises you to prepare for damaging winds, destructive hail and deadly cloud to ground lightning.

People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building, but away from windows, the weather service said.
