Route 28 Southbound Express Lane Closed Monday Night

Restrictions will occur from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Route 28's southbound express lane at the 40th Street Bridge will be closed Monday night so crews can excavate, according to PennDOT District 11.

All southbound traffic will be required to use the 40th Street Bridge intersection -- one lane will remain open from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, PennDOT said.

Access to the 40th Street Bridge from southbound Route 28 will remain open.

The Millvale on-ramp will still have access to southbound Route 28 and the 40th Street Bridge.

The work is part of the $23.5 million Route 28 East Ohio Street Improvement Project 40th Street Bridge work. The Trumbull Corp. of Pittsburgh is the prime contractor.

PennDOT advises motorists to be prepared for changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. To check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling, motorists may call 511 from any phone or log on to 511.pa.com
