Public Hearing on Congressional Redistricting Set to Take Place in Cranberry

The hearing will be held June 9.

On Wednesday, Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Cranberry -- who serves as the House State Government Committee Majority Chariman -- and Senate State Government Chairman Sen. Chuck McIhinney, R-Bucks, announced they would hold a series of joint statewide hearings to receive testimony and collect public input on congressional redistricting.

Redistricting is a state legislative process that takes place every 10 years and redraws the boundaries of congressional and legislative districts to meet the constitutional requirement of one person, one vote.

In Pennsylvania, congressional redistricting is passed by the General Assembly and then approved by the governor.

The first public hearing is set for May 12 in Philadelphia. A second hearing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 9 at the on Rochester Road.

A third hearing will be held June 14 in Harrisburg.
