Pearce Mill Road Slide Repair Begins Monday in Pine

Road will be closed until November.

A $2.4 million project to repair the slide on Pearce Mill Road in Pine Township begins Monday, according to PennDOT.

The project includes repairing and reinforcing the slope and reconstructing the road in the area of a slide that occurred earlier this year on Pearce Mill Road between Route 910 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike overpass, PennDOT said.

To allow the work to occur, Pearce Mill Road will be closed to thru-traffic long-term beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday continuously through late November 2011.

The road will remain open to the slide area for local traffic only. Traffic will be detoured using Route 910 east to Babcock Boulevard, north to Bakerstown-Warrendale Road, continuing west back to Pearce Mill Road.

About 2,740 vehicles use this area of Pearce Mill Road on an average day.

The contractor performing the work is Joseph B. Fay of Russellton.
