Patch Picks: All About Cranberry Community Days

The three-day event kicks off today.

You’ve read about it. You’ve seen it advertised on the . Now the Cranberry Township Community Chest Community Days, a celebration of local nonprofit and civic groups -- and one of the biggest events in Cranberry Township -- finally is here.

Because there’s a lot going on during the annual three-day festival, Patch has broken down the events by day.

THURSDAY, July 7

4 p.m.: Nonprofit Midway. Get ready for a chance to win some great prizes. Nine nonprofits will offer an old-fashioned midway with challenging games to test your skills. All proceeds will benefit the nonprofits.

4 to 10 p.m.: CTCC Car & Motorcycle Cruise. Ogle rows of awesome cars and motorcycles. The first 200 cars in the cruise will get a “dash plaque."

4 to  11 p.m.: Carnival. Take a spin on one of the carnival’s many rides. All-you-can-ride one-day carnival passes will be available to use July 7 or July 8 for $18. Regular tickets also will be available for July 7-9. 

4 p.m.: Cranberry Township Athletic Association softball tournament

7 p.m.: The Buffettman Concert. Find Margaritaville in Cranberry with Tom Watt’s covers of Jimmy Buffett songs.

All day: There will be 70 booths open for all three days and another 100 booths open for Saturday.

 

FRIDAY, July 8

11 a.m.: Rotary Chicken BBQ Lunch & Dinner. Served all day and into the evening, the $10 meals can be picked up at the on Rochester Road. The BBQ includes drive-through service, and meals include a half chicken grilled to perfection, a roll and applesauce.

4 p.m.: . A panel of judges at the municipal center will select the winning entries crafted from recycled materials. Proceeds from the contest will be used for the startup of the revitalized Cranberry Council for the Arts.

4 p.m.: The Cranberry Township Athletic Association softball tournament continues.

4 to 11 p.m.: Carnival. More games, more foods and more rides.

6 p.m.: Bean Bag Toss Tournament. All proceeds from the tournament will go toward the American Heart Association. A donation of $20 is needed to enter the tournament.

7 p.m.: Corbin Hanner Country Band. The veteran band will take the stage at the Rotary Amphitheater. According to the Cranberry Township Community Chest website, Corbin Hanner holds the record for the largest concert crowd in Cranberry.

All day: There will be 70 booths open for all three days and another 100 booths open for Saturday.

 

SATURDAY, July 9

8 to 11 a.m.: Lions Pancake Breakfast. The Cranberry Lions will try to break their previous record by serving more than 1,000 of their famous pancakes in five hours at the Jaycee Shelter. The cost of a meal is $7 for those 10 and older and $3 for children younger than 10. Meals come with unlimited pancakes and a variety of syrups, sausage and coffee.

8 a.m. to noon: The Cranberry Township Athletic Association Softball Tournament continues.

8:30 a.m.: . Sponsored by the Cranberry Friends of the Library, the Cranberry Lions and The Chamber Inc., the run/walk is new this year to Community Days. There will three levels to this event. The 5k is $20, the 1-mile Fun Run is $10, and the Supporter level is $10. Everyone who signs up also will get a free Lions pancake breakfast, a 6-month membership to the Friends of the Library and a variety of other gifts. The first 300 people to sign up for any of the levels will get a shirt. Upon registration, runners will select the library they want their proceeds to go to. This is open to any library in the state.

2 p.m.: Parking. There will be a $5 charge from 2 to 7 p.m. All proceeds will go to VOICe, a nonprofit that gives support to victims of violent crimes in Butler County. Free off-site parking and a free shuttle to the park also starts at 2 p.m.

3 p.m.: Saturday’s Community Day officially kicks off with the carnival, nonprofit midway and plenty of food, drinks and vendor booths.

3 to 6 p.m.: Enjoy Moe’s Community Stage with various games.

3 to 7 p.m.: Check out the trackless train.

3 to 8 p.m.: Work out with the Gymagic Bus.

3:30 to 7 p.m.: Free Petting Zoo.

4 p.m.: Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company’s Battle of the Barrels.

4 to 7 p.m.: Mike the Balloon Guy makes creations for the children.

4 to 8 p.m.: Spangles the Clown makes his rounds.

4 to 8 p.m.: Face painting at the park’s upper level.

6 p.m.: Christmas in July? Santa will be at the Children’s Shelter.

6 to 11 p.m.: Break out your inner American Idol with free karaoke.

8 to 9:30 p.m.: Johnny Angel & The Halos will perform.

9:30 p.m.: Time for fireworks!
