* Look for Single Lanes on I-79 in Marshall This Weekend

No weekend restrictions are planned for Warrendale-Bayne Road.

If you plan to travel I-79 this weekend, listen up.

Earlier this week, we reported that traffic on I-79 will be funneled down to one lane in Marshall Township, in the area of the bridges over Mingo Road.

That restriction began at midnight Friday instead of 7 a.m. today, according to PennDOT.

The good news is that no restrictions will occur this weekend on Warrendale-Bayne Road, PennDOT said.

The single-lane restriction will occur in both directions on I-79 between Exits 73 and 75 in Marshall Township, according to PennDOT Press Officer James B. Struzzi II.

Crews will be installing a temporary concrete barrier as part of a $10 million project for improvements on northbound and southbound bridges over Mingo Road and Warrendale-Bayne Road, as well as the ramp from northbound I-79 to Cranberry (Exit 76), which passes over southbound I-79.

The project also includes work on a culvert that carries the east branch of Big Sewickley Creek under southbound I-79 south of Mingo Road

The overall project will be completed in the fall, Struzzi said in a release.

The prime contractor for the project is Swank Associated Companies Inc. of New Kensington.

"PennDOT advises motorists to use caution, slow down, and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area," the PennDOT announcement said. "Motorists are also reminded they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling."
