I-79 Reopening to Three Lanes Saturday
Single-lane traffic planned from 6 a.m. to about 5 p.m. Saturday as crews remove barriers and paint lines. But once done, I-79 to will fully reopen to three lanes each way in Marshall.
Could it be? Is it time to do the happy dance?
If all goes as planned, I-79 will be fully reopened to three lanes in each direction across the newly rehabilitated bridges over Warrendale-Bayne Road by Saturday evening, PennDOT District 11 announced.
This comes after months of work on the busy interstate that has sometimes brought traffic to a crawl or stop.

In addition, the weight restriction on the ramp from northbound I-79 to Cranberry [Exit 76], which passes over southbound I-79, will be removed Saturday.
But first, there's one more Saturday of single-lane traffic planned for I-79 in both directions in the area of the Warrendale-Bayne Road interchange [Exit 75], weather permitting, as crews remove temporary concrete barriers and paint lines.

Expect delays and stops from 6 a.m. through approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The improvements are part of a $10 million project on several I-79 bridges. The overall project will be completed in spring 2012. The prime contractor for the project is Swank Construction Co. LLC of New Kensington.
