I-79 Bridge Washing Starts Today, Will Cause Lane Closures

Work will take place between Exit 75 and Exit 76 in Marshall Township.

Hey, even bridges need a good bath every once in a while.

Washing of the Interstate 79 brides over Route 19 in Marshall Township begins today, according to PennDOT press officer Jim Struzzi.

The process will cause single lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays on I-79 and on Route 19 below the bridges, a statement from PennDOT said.

The work is expect to be complete by Aug. 23.

Crews from Michael Facchiano Contracting, Inc. of Pittsburgh will be washing the bridges between Exit 75 and Exit 76. One lane will be closed at a time and both directions will not be restricted simultaneously, the PennDOT statement said.

PennDOT urges motorists to use caution, slow down, and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. PennDOT also reminds drivers they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling.
