Great Escape: Dinner and a Movie at Strand Theater

Jason Robert Brown's musical, "The Last Five Years," tells story of relationship between a rising novelist and struggling actress.

Who says you have to go all the way to downtown Pittsburgh for great musical theater?  Grab your significant other and check out the beautifully renovated Strand Theater on Main Street in Zelienople. 

The theater presents Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last Five Years” at 8 p.m. this Thursday and Friday only.

This poignant two-person musical explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hyatt, a struggling actress.

Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order, beginning the show at the end of the marriage. Jamie's story starts when the couple first meets and is told in chronological order.

The characters do not interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect.  There are 14 songs in total along with live piano accompaniment.  The show is presented by the Ghostlight Theater Troupe.
