Cranberry Community Sign is Live

Electronic sign, which will promote local nonprofits and township events, was dedicated Monday afternoon.

Cranberry Township now has a new tool for spreading the word about upcoming events. A 12-foot wide, two-sided electronic community information sign at the corner of Routes 19 and 228, in front of the UPMC building, was formally dedicated shortly before noon today.

The sign, which cost approximately $150,000, is a joint project of Cranberry Township, the Cranberry Township Community Chest, the Lions Club, the Cranberry Township Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce Inc., and UPMC. The sign was the 2010 CTCC project of the year.

The board replaces a community information sign owned by the Rotary Club on Freedom Road that was taken down in 2004 to make room for new turning lanes on Route 19.
