Cranberry Area Girl Scouts Participate in the Pittsburgh Marathon Kids of Steel

Thirty Girl Scouts from Cranberry became "Kids of Steel" in downtown Pittsburgh this past Saturday

Last Saturday, 30 Girl Scouts from Cranberry Township participated in the Pittsburgh Marathon's Giant Eagle KIDS OF STEEL Fun Run in downtown Pittsburgh.

Girls and leaders from 13 Daisy troops, Brownie troops, Junior troops, and even Cadette troops ran with other Seneca Valley students for the 1.2 mile run over the Warhol Bridge and through the streets of Pittsburgh.

This event was the culmination of months of planning and preparing for the Girl Scouts.

As part of the KIDS OF STEEL program, the girls individually ran at least 25 miles in the weeks preceeding the run on Saturday.

In addition, they participated in a special pre-race event to learn about how to prepare for exercise, what foods to eat, why staying hydrated is important, the importance of adults in exercising and even first aid.
