McKinney's Furniture Prepares to Move Out of Cranberry Location

The store opened in October 2010 inside the Viola Plaza.

McKinney’s Furniture and Mattress Direct is moving out of its location inside Cranberry’s Viola Plaza.

The furniture store—which also has locations in Monaca in Pennsylvania and Alliance, Calcutta, Canton and Salem in Ohio—opened in October 2010 inside the shopping center at the intersection of Route 19 and Rowan Road.

In preparation for the move, the store is holding a liquidation sale. Tiffany Zellhart, an employee at the Cranberry location, said the store is expected to shut its doors about May.

She said the McKinney family—the furniture chain's owners—are exploring other locations in the Pittsburgh area for the store, including the former Kuhn’s Market at the Cranberry Mall on Route 19, a spot that has been empty since

“Nothing is confirmed yet though,” she said.

Owner Greg McKinney declined comment about the store’s move.

I stopped in once to look at sofas -- couldn't find what I wanted and they suggested I go to their Monaca store as they have more inventory at that location. This article doesn't say why they are moving out of the Viola building, lack of business, poor location, etc. I was disappointed that the Cranberry store was not big enough to carry all of their inventory and I was not interested in traveling to Monaca. It's not good business to tell potential customers they need to go to a different location to see everything they offer. Hopefully they will open in a larger facility in Cranberry.
