Jackson Fish Co. Closing After One Year in Business

The restaurant is scheduled to shut down July 27.

After one year in business, The Jackson Fish Co. Market Café in Harmony’s Creekside Plaza will close its doors permanently later this month.

“We just weren’t making enough profit on the week days,” said employee Dean Catalano, who has worked at the restaurant since it opened last summer.

The restaurant’s last day is scheduled for July 27.

“A lot of our regulars are really sad about it,” Catalano added.

Jackson Fish Co. is co-owned by Chet Garland and Paul Tebbets, who also are partners in several other Pittsburgh area restaurants, including Toast! Kitchen & Wine Bar, Benjamins Western Avenue Burger and Rumfish Grille.

Catalano said Jackson Fish Co. was Garland’s first foray into seafood—but the costs proved to be too much for the suburban eatery.

Catalano noted fresh fish with a short shelf life was brought into the restaurant daily, which, if uneaten, would cause the restaurant to lose money. While the restaurant was popular on weekends, the same couldn’t be said for weekdays.

“There just wasn’t enough traffic during the week,” Catalano said.

Customers who purchased dinner deals for Jackson Fish Co. through Groupon have since been notified of the restaurant’s closing.

The restaurant will still have a vendor booth at the upcoming Zelienople Harmony Horse Trading Days being held Thursday, July 18 through Saturday, July 20.
