Guess Which Community is No. 1 in Home Sales?

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Business Times posted the top 10 communities in the region by 2011 home sales. The numbers were based on figures from RealSTATs' listing of total dollar volume.

With a total dollar volume of $159, 565, 810, Cranberry was ranked No.1 in the region. Taking the No. 2 spot was neighboring Adams Township.

"Cranberry Township earning the No. 1 spot in total homes sales in 2011 is another indication of the value of good planning and the implementation of those plans, including investing in community infrastructure," said township manager Jerry Andree.

RealSTATS also named Adams the region’s strongest residential community. The South Side-based research firm dubbed Adams the overall winner as its Gold Medal Community, based on the sales performance of the homes within it.

According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, Adams had the greatest increase in investment and the number of home sales from 2000 to 2011. It’s total dollar volume in 2011 was $123, 676, 618.

The silver medal community was the second ward of the city of Pittsburgh. The third place bronze went to Peters Township in Washington County.
