Get Out: No Bad Ju Ju and Zumba for a Good Cause

Be prepared to dance, sing and find some really good deals this weekend.

Friday almost is here, and you’ve been working hard all week. Why not treat you yourself (and the family) to some of these fun events happening in the Cranberry area this weekend?

1. No Bad Ju Ju

When/Where: 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cranberry Community Park.

Why Go: Ju Ju refers to magic, and the eight-piece powerhouse funk band certainly will be making some when they hit the stage at Community Park. Led by soulful singer Sabrina DeMatteo, No Bad Ju Ju is one of Pittsburgh’s most popular bands. Thursday’s performance is the last of the Cranberry’s Concert in the Parks series that started last month.

2. Butler Notables

When/Where: Noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the gazebo at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center.

Why Go: More music for your ears. Cranberry has its last outdoor Lunchtime Concert of the summer Friday with the Butler Notables. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy this barbershop chorus while you munch your lunch.

Price: Free

3. Closet Classics Sale and Classic Treasures Bazaar

When/Where: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Aug. 19 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 20 at the Cranberry Community United Presbyterian Church on Rochester Road.

Why go: Shop for gently-used clothing at reasonable prices for the entire family. Gear includes costumes, prom dresses and maternity clothes. There also will be CDs, DVDs, books, jewelry, sporting goods and more. The church’s café will offer meals and desserts.

4. Zumbathon Fundraiser

When/Where: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Plains United Presbyterian Church in Cranberry.

Why go: Get fit for a good cause. Proceeds from the dance/aerobic event sponsored by The Hope League, a Relay for Life team, will benefit cancer research. No experience is needed.

Price: $5 at the door

5. Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival

When/Where: 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Butler Fairgrounds in Prospect.

Why go: Did you know the Jeep’s birthplace was right here in Butler County? For more reasons to attend the event, check out today’s story about the festival.

Price: $7 per day for adults. The cost for children ages 3-12 is $3. Children age 2 and younger are admitted for free.
