'Cake Boss,' Celebrity Chefs to Appear at Grand Opening for Giant Eagle Market District in Pine

Cake Boss Buddy Valastro, Top Chef's Michael Isabella and more culinary stars to appear through Sunday.

No grand opening for a Giant Eagle Market District would be complete without culinary stars.

Quite a few will be on hand as the makes its transition to Market District status with grand opening festivities through 9 p.m. Sunday.

Food samples, demonstrations, giveaways, children's activities, live music and surprises are billed for the store at 155 Towne Centre Drive in Wexford.

TLC's Cake Boss Buddy Valastro will sign copies of his latest book, Baking with the Cake Boss: 100 of Buddy's Best Recipes and Decorating Secrets, at 1 p.m. today. The book will be on sale there. 

Bravo's Top Chef runner-up Michael Isabella will demonstrate Mediterranean cooking and sign autographs at 4 p.m today.

At 3:30 p.m. Friday, the winner of the first title of MasterChef on Fox television, Whitney Miller, will share her story and recipes and sign her new cookbook, Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm!

Veggie artist James Parker will sculpt vegetables into works of art all day long on Friday.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, Aida Mollenkamp of Food Network's Ask Aida and the Cooking Channel's FoodCrafters  will demonstrate her use of fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Chris Fennimore, program director of WQED-TV-13 and host of QED Cooks, will cook up some of his favorite recipes starting with homemade soup at noon and then bruschetta at 12:30 p.m. Saturday
