Seneca Valley Appoints Temporary Principal for Evans City Middle School

Dr. Sandra Krivak-Fowler is taking a leave of absence from the district for health reasons.

A new face will be helming Evans City Middle School when students return to class Aug. 28.

At Monday’s school board meeting, Seneca Valley officials appointed Marie Palano as acting principal of the middle school, pending the hire of a permanent replacement.

She takes over for Dr. Sandra Krivak-Fowler, who is on an indeterminate leave of absence for health reasons, according to district officials.

Palano has served as assistant principal at Seneca Valley Middle School since November 2012. Prior to that, she spent nearly 10 years teaching Spanish to seventh and eighth grade students.

The Cranberry resident also was on the committee that helped bring the Don Eicchorn Schools to Watch Award to Seneca Valley Middle School in 2011.

Palano will be paid a $1,000 stipend in addition to her current salary for her new role.

District officials said an acting assistant principal for Seneca Valley Middle School would be appointed as soon as possible.
