A new acrylics painting class being offered at Cranberry Township will allow newbie artists to transfer special moments captured on film right to the canvas.
The Wednesday afternoon art classes begin March 20 at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center and will offer instruction in the basics of color theory, color mixing and the use of different paint media to create images using participants' personal photo favorites as models.
During six 2½ hour sessions, students will develop at least three of their own acrylic paintings with an emphasis on the use of color, line, texture, shading, shape and form, a statement from the township said.
Paints and brushes will be provided in the class. A list of other art materials will be available for students who wish to purchase them on their own.
Participation in the class is limited to those 18 and older. Registration by March 13 is required.
In-person enrollment is available at the information desk of the parks and recreation department located inside the municipal center, by phone at 724-776-4806 x1129 or online at the township's website at www.cranberrytownship.org/programs.
There is a program fee of $94 for residents and non-residents alike payable at the time of registration.
