On Tuesday, Pine-Richland’s own Jackie Evancho will join forces with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh for a concert celebrating great songs from the movies.
“Jackie Evancho: Songs from the Silver Screen,” takes place at 7:30 p.m. and will feature music from her PBS television special, Great Performances: Jackie Evancho: Music of the Movies.
The playlist from Songs From the Silver Screen includes: "Pure Imagination," "The Music of the Night," "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," "Reflection," "What A Wonderful World," "Some Enchanted Evening" and "When I Fall In Love."
Since she shot to stardom more than two years ago on America’s Got Talent, Jackie, now 12, has gained admirers around the world.
The recipient of Platinum and Gold records, Jackie also has branched out into acting. She will play Robert Redford’s daughter in the upcoming film The Company You Keep, a political thriller produced and directed by Redford.
These days, the singing sensation is riding high on her stardom—sometimes quite literally.
On March 22, Jackie will guest star in the Cirque du Soleil’s benefit “One Night for One Drop” at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
Suspended 30 feet above the “O” stage, Jackie will sing “Hymn of the Worlds" for Prince Albert of Monaco, Cirque founder Guy Laliberte and a variety of other VIPs and celebrities, the Las Vegas Sun reports.
Jackie also will take part in a water and aerial performance, flying above 237 Cirque performers enacting a celebration of Earth’s creation and highlighting water as the essence of life, the Las Vegas Sun said. One Drop is the nonprofit created by Laliberte to aid the world’s water crisis.
