Five Things You Need to Know This Week

1. Summer Art Class: Ready, Set, Shoot!

Photography is for kids, too! Youths ages 8-9 will learn the basics of photography like composition, framing and selecting a good subject. The classes take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 8 and Thursday, July 11 at Bottlebrush: A Gallery for the Arts in Harmony.

2. Donations for St. Ferdinand White Elephant Sale

On Monday, July 8, the White Elephant sorting crew will begin accepting donations for the annual flea market sale at St. Ferdinand Church in Cranberry. 

The drop off for items is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For a list of what and cannot be donated to the sale, click here.

3. Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company Golf Classic

For the second year in a row, the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company will hold a golf outing at the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. This year’s event, which is sponsored by Westinghouse, takes place Wednesday, July 10.

Proceeds from the outing benefit the fire company and the Cranberry Township Community Chest Project of the Year.

4. Cranberry Community Days

Cranberry Township Community Chest’s Community Days will take place Thursday, July 11 through Saturday, July 13.

The annual event includes a number of vendor booths, games, rides, food and much more. There also will be a car cruise and an “Art in the Park” sculpture contest. The celebration concludes Saturday at dusk with a fireworks display.

5. Cranberry Lions Pancake Breakfast

The Cranberry Lions Club will hold its annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13 in the Jaycee Shelter at Cranberry Community Park.

The breakfast includes unlimited pancakes served with a variety of syrups, sausages and coffee. The cost is $8 for those ages 9 and older and $3 for those age 8 and younger.
