St. Patrick's Eve Concert

Shawn MacIntyre will open the show, Singing Celtic and Seafaring music in the Acapella style. Shawn MacIntyre is a vocalist who sings Celtic Traditional, Medieval and Maritime songs in the acapella form. Shawn is a tenor that brings the spirit of the songs to life. He is graceful in style, cheerful in spirit, and pleasantly varied, the listener can feel every word. He began performing publicly at Pittsburgh’s premiere open stage, Acousticafe; since then he has entertained and delighted crowds at Papa J’s Centro, Cannon Café, The Venue at Harmony Ridge as well as private shows.

Shawn was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up one of five children in a large boisterous Scots-Irish Family. From an early age, he had a love for Irish traditional music, a love that has continued to grow today and is ever broadening. Outside of music, Shawn is an Emergency Medical Technician, volunteer firefighter and a medieval re-creationist. Shawn currently lives in Pittsburgh with his wife, 2 dogs and a cat.

The Ploughshare Poets will headline the evening's entertainment. The Ploughshare Poets Vade and Ryan will sing many old favorites as well as modern Celtic songs and tunes. They play 3 different bagpipes, guitar, whistles drums, bouzouki and more instruments. Far from being a kitschy pub band, the Poets study the history and cultural importance of a wide array of Scottish and Irish music. Vade has played extensively in England and Scotland and was the lead singer of "Colin's Way" for 10 years. Ryan has played bagpipes for 20 years and makes his own small pipes.
