Cranberry Announces Garby Award Art Winners

The contest turns trash into art.

The results are in from the annual Garby Recycled Art competition.

The mission of the contest that turns trash into treasures is to celebrate Cranberry Township’s successes in residential waste recycling, as well as to raise funds for a future Cranberry Art Society.

The entries were created with materials eligible for recycling through Cranberry's Collection Connection program, including metal cans, plastic bottles and containers, paper and cardboard, and clear and colored glass bottles.

The artwork was displayed in the through . A panel of judges chose the winners Friday.

The first place winner received $250. For second place, the prize was $100. The third place finisher was awarded $50.

Winners in the contest’s adult division (for age 17 and older):

  • First Place: Liz Carpenter, Cardboard Memories
  • Second Place: Eileen Sieff Stroup, Goldfish
  • Third Place: Emma McKee, Rolling with Color
  • Honorable Mention: Grace Thomas, Black and Gold

Youth Division Winners (age 16 and younger):

  • First Place: Samantha Milkey, The Recyclable Fun House
  • Second Place: Rhianna Thomas, Earrings & Pin
