Zelienople Restaurant Owner Feeds 'Flocks' of Needy Through Ministry

Randy Herbe, owner of Z Town Cafe, also hosts a $1 spaghetti dinner every month.

A Zelienople restaurant owner is helping to feed flocks of people through a ministry he runs called Feed My Sheep

Twice a week Randy Herbe, owner of Z Town Cafe and Catering in Zelienople, heads down to the Boulevard of the Allies and feeds anywhere from 20 to 100 people in Downtown Pittsburgh, the Tribune Review reports.

He and and a team of about 10 volunteers prepare the dinners, set up tables and serve the meals starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Feed My Sheep, run through the North Hills Church of Christ, began serving nourishing meals to the less fortunate more than a decade ago and has continued the effort each week despite the weather conditions, according to the ministry's website.

In addition to meals, the ministry provides fellowship and warm clothes to those in need. Much of it is donated.

Herbe heads the Zelienople Kiwanis Club, which the Trib said is a regular source of donations.

The North Hills Church of Christ also supports Feed my Sheep through volunteers and clothing donations

The project was started by George Ford, a retired Zelienople carpenter, who named the ministry after the Bible verse John 21:17 in which Jesus tells Peter to “feed my sheep.”

Herbe for years has also organized a $1 spaghetti dinner in Zelienople on the last Friday of every month.
