Winterfest Kicks Off at Moraine State Park
Looking for something to do this weekend? A plethora of activities are taking place in Cranberry's backyard.
If you’re looking for some unique winter activities to do with the family this weekend, check out what’s happening right in Cranberry’s backyard.
Winterfest kicks off Saturday at Moraine State Park in Portersville. The events take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include dog sledding demos, hiking, cross country skiing, ice-skating and more.
There also will be a chili cook off and other hot food vendors at the festival.

11 a.m.: Chili cook off
- First Prize: Dinner for two at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry
- Second Prize: $75 Visa Gift Card courtesy of Northwest Savings Bank
- Third Prize: Courtesy of Nicolette's Tailor Shop and Specialty Gifts, Portersville - Value $50
11-3 p.m.: Live Music by Amanda Noah
11-3 p.m.: Chainsaw Carving by Damian Skal
11-3 p.m.: Ice Carving by The Marriott
12-4 p.m.: Carriage Rides
12-3 p.m.: Snow shoe workshop hosted by Venture Outdoors
12-3 p.m.: Dog sled demos by Sandy Stoner
1-4 p.m.: Ice fishing demonstration by Muddy Creek Outfitters
1:30 p.m.: Barn Owl/Raptor program by Moraine Preservation Fund
1-4 p.m: Cross country skiing hosted by Butler Outdoor Club (bring your own skis)
2:30 p.m.: Barn Owl/Raptor program hosted by Moraine Preservation Fund- Owlet Gift shop
3 p.m. Family Birding Hike hosted by Audubon Society of Western PA. Meet at Pavilion no. 7
Other activities include crafts, family snow activities, bonfire and meeting Smokey the Bear. Froggy 94.9 FM will be playing music at the event.
