If you are one of those people who runs out for milk and bread when you hear that snow is in the forecast, get your track shoes on.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for snow at 12:30 p.m. Friday. A winter weather advisory for snow means that snowfall will make travel difficult because of snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday. It covers southwestern Pennsylvania, east central Ohio, northern West Virginia, including the northern Panhandle.
The weather service forecasts snow showers tonight (Friday), mainly after 1 a.m., in the Cranberry area. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent with new snow accumulation of about 1 inch possible overnight, the service forecasts.
Snow, wind gusts of up to 28 mph, and frigid temperatures are forecast for Saturday and Sunday. Wind chill values could go as low as zero on Saturday, the National Weather Service states.
New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is forecast for Saturday in the area.
So, you might want to pick up some soup and other hot dishes to go with that bread and milk.
Monday's forecast is for sun and a high near 36, making perfect conditions for that snow to melt so you don't have to keep shoveling ... if you're lucky.

Winter weather will return this weekend. There will be two episodes of snow. The first tonight will affect areas south of Pittsburgh starting this evening (Friday), making untreated pavements snow covered and slippery.
The second snow late tonight and Saturday will spread from west to east across the Upper Ohio Valley, adding to the snow accumulation. Brisk winds Saturday and Saturday night can cause blowing snow and cold wind chills Saturday night.
Hazardous travel conditions are expected due to reduced visibility and snow accumulation. Gusty winds may cause blowing snow Saturday and near zero wind chill Saturday night.
