Updated Forecast: Winter Weather Advisory: Expect a Snowy Saturday

The snow is expected to taper by late Saturday.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory for a wide portion of western Pennsylvania until 3 p.m. Saturday.

The storm is expected to drop 4 to 6 inches of snow by the end of the day Saturday.

Here is the latest forecast:

  • Saturday: Snow, mainly before 3pm. High near 32. Southeast wind 6 to 13 mph becoming west in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
  • Saturday Night: Tonight, a chance of snow showers, mainly after 9pm. Cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind 13 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. 
  • Sunday: A chance of snow showers, mainly before 9am. Cloudy, with a high near 29. West wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Here's the latest from that National Weather Service: WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS CANCELLED. THE NATL WEATHER SVC IN PITTSBURGH HAS CANCELLED THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY. THE ACCUMULATING SNOW IS OVER.WHILE LIGHT SNOW EXPECTED THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO. AN UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM CROSSES TONIGHT.WHICH COULD BRING ANOTHER 1 TO 2 INCHES OF SNOWFALL.HOWEVER NO HEADLINES ARE EXPECTED.
