Updated Winter Weather Advisory: Mixture of Snow, Sleet, and Freezing Rain Predicted for Morning Rush

The area is under a winter weather advisory through 1 p.m.

There could be very little rush to the Monday morning rush hour. The National Weather service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday for most of Western Pennsylvania, including the Cranberry area.

A mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected overnight into Monday morning. Because very cold ground and snow pack, roads and sidewalks are expected to be icy.

Areas of freezing rain and mixed precipitation will transition to all rain later Monday.

Here is a more detailed look at the forecast:

  • Monday: Freezing rain before 11am, then rain. High near 43. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Monday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 7pm. Areas of fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 47 by 4am. Southwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Tuesday: A chance of showers. Areas of fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Southwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
