Wind Advisory in Effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday

National Weather Service forecasts strong gusts as cold front moves in.

Strong gusts are forecast today and a wind advisory is in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

"As the cold front moves across the region, strong gusts can be expected ahead of the front with the strongest winds immediately behind the cold front," the weather service website stated.

A wind advisory means wind gusts greater than 45 mph are expected, which can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, the weather service stated.

Gusts of up to 50 mph are predicted, with winds increasing this afternoon and the strongest winds hitting shortly after sunset as the front passes, according to the National Weather Service.

"Scattered tree and power line damage can be expected," the weather service said. "Some minor property damage is possible in the highest gusts."
