“He was really encouraging me to do it,” James said.

James, who plans to study economics at Robert Morris University in the fall, said he chose President Coolidge as his subject after researching the economics of America in the prosperous 1920s.

“After looking it up, he’s actually one of my favorite presidents,” James said.

In preparation for the state competition, James said he is tweaking his website, adding more information. While he’s looking forward to the upcoming state competition, James said he was pleased to win the regional leg.

“I was actually really happy about it,” he said. “My dad was really shocked.”
