What Kind of Revitalization Would You Like to See on Zelienople's Main Street?

If you’ve got something to say about revitalization efforts on Zelienople’s Main Street, tonight is a chance to have your voice hear.

Planning consultants from EG&G, Inc. will show initial plans for the revamped Main Street at 7 p.m. Thursday at in Zelienople. The plans also include the Four Corners Park, Clay and High streets, according to Alicia Flood, secretary for the Zelienople-Harmony Friends of the Park. 

The public is welcome to give feedback during the meeting and to join the revitalization effort.

Formed by business leaders and residents, the nonprofit Zelienople, PA Revitalization was created last year to discuss concerns about the borough’s aging downtown and lack of business traffic, according to the Zelienople borough website.

Gathering contributions from the borough, the private sector and several local banks, the group was able to hire EG & G, a consulting firm with offices Washington County and Ohio that specializes in downtown renewal.

The landscape architects have completed more than 70 successful urban revitalization projects, according to the borough website. They also have been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and have been honoroed with many design awards. 

The firm also works with the communities to help secure grants and assist in raising money, according to Zelienople. The revitalized downtown areas in Slippery Rock and Grove City are two examples of EG&G projects.

Members of E.G&G and the revitalization board also will be on hand to answer any questions from the public at tonight's meeting.
