There are Plenty of Pumpkins, Fun, with Dutilh Church 'Rocktoberfest'

There will be a series of family activities, including a pumpkin patch, at the church in Cranberry.

will be rockin’ again this month with Rocktoberfest, a series of fun-filled events that offers something for just about everybody in the community.

“Our first Rocktoberfest was a big success, so we’re doing it all over again this year,” said Senior Pastor Dwayne Burfield. “Once again, our campuses in Cranberry and Mars will be rockin,’ and we invite the community to come a-knockin’ on our doors.”

A pancake breakfast Oct. 1 at the Mars campuses kicked off the festivities in conjunction with Mars Applefest. The celebration continues through Oct. 31, the final day for the church’s Pumpkins For People pumpkin patch. Dutilh has other events scheduled throughout the month, including the Father-Daughter Dance and Children’s Fall Festival.

With as many as 1,500 pumpkins expected to be for sale this year, Pumpkins For People promises to be one of the largest pumpkin patches in the area. All proceeds will be used to support people in need. Last year’s proceeds, more than $2,600, funded needs and disaster relief for people in the Pittsburgh-area and worldwide, the church said.

“Pumpkins For People takes one of the fall season’s most enduring traditions – picking out the family pumpkin – to a new level,” Burfield said. “As you search for that perfect pumpkin, you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of free, family-oriented activities and entertainment, and your pumpkin purchases will support people who are less fortunate than you, which is another enduring church tradition.”
