Steelers’ Keisel to ‘Shear Da Beard’ at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille

The defensive end will shave off his famous facial hair to benefit the cancer program at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh UPMC.

While the Steelers’ Brett Keisel is known for his fearsome facial hair, he doesn’t have a problem shaving it off for a good cause.

For the third year in a row, the star defensive end, who resides in the Cranberry area, will “Shear Da Beard” at the annual Mountain Man Makeover to benefit the cancer programs at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh UPMC.

And residents won't have to travel far to see it.

This year’s event takes place at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Warrendale on Thursday, Feb. 7. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the beard shaving takes place at 7 p.m.

Pittsburgh legend Donnie Iris and former Poverty Neck Hillbilly Chris Higbee are both scheduled to perform at the event. Keisel also recently hinted on air with the WDVE morning team that attendees just may catch a live rendition of Fear Da Beard.

The event features a live and a silent auction. Surprise celebrity barbers also will make appearances at the event to help rid Keisel of his whiskers.

While the names still are under wraps, past barbers have included Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin and players James Harrison and Hines Ward.

Tickets to the event are $25 and include admission, the first drink and complimentary appetizers courtesy of Jergel’s. This is a 21-and-older event. No outside autograph items permitted inside the venue.
