Play Ball! Registration Open for Special Needs Miracle League's 2013 Season

Online registration for players and volunteers is now open for the Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s 2013 Season, which kicks off Saturday, May 11.

Co-founded in the area by who is the parent of an autistic daughter, the Miracle League was created to give children with special needs the opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league.

Games are played at the Pirates Charities Miracle League Field at Graham Park in Cranberry, Casey’s Club House in Upper St. Clair and the Rotary Miracle League field in Murrysville

hundreds of children with special needs from around the region have become team members in the organization.

There are three divisions within the Miracle League. The non-competitive division, the Miracle League, is for children 5 to 17 years of age; the Adult League is for those older than 18; and the Youth Competitive Division is for children between the ages of 5 to 17 years of age who wish to play in a competition league.

In addition to providing the opportunity to play organized baseball, the league provides children with special needs the opportunity to develop critically important social and other skills.

The league is open to residents with special needs in Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio.
