Phone and Internet Service Outage Affecting Cranberry Businesses

The disruption caused by a severed communication line is affecting transactions at Giant Eagle and local banks.

A landline telephone and Internet service outage is affecting Cranberry businesses.

Township manager Jerry Andree said the disruption began at about 5 p.m. Friday after a contractor installing a water line for Cranberry near Freedom Road and Executive Drive damaged a major underground telephone cable that serves a number of businesses in the area.

Kirby Electric, a subcontractor of Consolidate Communications, has been working since that time to restore service, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
