Patch Picks: Five Nonprofits Making a Difference

Cranberry has a plethora of worthwhile nonprofit organizations. Have you picked one to join yet?

For the week’s , Cranberry Patch decided to highlight some of the great non-profits around the area making a difference. This was a hard list to narrow down, as there are so many wonderful organizations in Cranberry dedicated to helping others.

The Cranberry Community Uniting People – Better known as the Cranberry CUP, this organization is dedicated to raising money for worthy causes. Through the years, the CUP has raised money for the American Cancer Society and has helped many families in the community defray medical costs.

Some of their signature events include a kick-off party, where they introduce a family in need, a golf tournament and a popular softball tournament. For more information, go here.

Cranberry Township Community Chest – The CTCC’s goal is to increase volunteers and membership by connecting residents to nonprofit and civic groups. The group also helps raise money for these organizations. 

Of course, CTCC also is known for Community Days, its annual summer celebration for the community's non-profits featuring food, games and fun for the public. For more information, go here.

The Cranberry Township Lions Club – Serving the community since 1982, this chapter of the international organization's dedication to volunteerism knows no bounds. For more information, go here.

The Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania – Formed in January 2007, MLSWPA provides the opportunity for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities to play organized baseball. The charity has a field is at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Sportsplex at in Cranberry Township. For more information, go here.

Gleaners Food Bank – Coming from the word “glean,” which means to collect bit by bit, Gleaners Food Bank provides food to Cranberry Township residents in need. The non-profit receives food from Butler County each month, which they supplement with local donations. For more information, go here.
