New Traffic Signal Lights Up Cranberry’s Rochester Road

The developers behind the Park Place neighborhood fund the signal.

A new traffic signal is about to light up Rochester Road in Cranberry.

Located at the intersection of Rochester with Cross Creek—a new road providing access to the Park Place neighborhood—the signal was contemplated from the start of the project, a statement from the township said. The Park Place developers are financing the new signal.

The new traffic light brings the total to 39 intersections controlled by traffic signals in the township.

The new signal is the sixth one located along Rochester Road and includes a protected left turn for eastbound traffic approaching Cross Creek from Rochester inside the road's new turning lane.

There also is countdown pedestrian crossing signal with two new crosswalks at the intersection. Both the left turn and pedestrian signals will be triggered on demand only.

PennDOT is expected to perform a final inspection of the signal Thursday morning.

Once the inspection is complete, the signal will go into a flash mode for a week before changing into the red-green control mode at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28.
