People in the North Hills, including nearby McCandless, claim they have seen bobcats recently in their communities.

Jamila Wiley told KDKA-TV she saw one racing across McKnight Road in Ross last winter.

Dr. Scott Winkler of McCandless tells KDKA that both he and a neighbor saw a bobcat in their Bennington Woods neighborhood Monday night.

Dan Puhala, Wildlife Conservation officer with the Pennsylvania Game commission, told the TV station there have been a number of sightings in the McCandless area, but that it should not be cause for alarm.

However he cautions people who have spotted bobcats to keep their distance, keep an eye on their smaller pets when outdoors, and not try to feed the bobcats.

Puhala also tells KDKA the bobcats may be more visible because this is the time of the year they try to wean their young.
