Golfers Needed for Cranberry Fire Company 9/11 Memorial Fundraiser

A golf outing July 11 will raise money for the project.

A little more than a year ago, members of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company obtained that fell from one of the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11 2001.

Firefighters plan around the I-beam in front of the —but they need your help to do it.

Bruce Hezlep, fire company president, said while the company has raised about $30,000 for the memorial, another $12,000 to $15,000 still is needed to complete the project. He hopes to have the memorial built by Sept. 11, 2012.

To raise funds, the fire company is holding a golf outing Wednesday, July 11 at the golf course to kick off

Hezlep said golfers still are needed for the event. Right now, there are about 60 people registered, but Hezlep said he hopes to have 100 golfers attend the outing.

The company also is seeking prize donations or sponsorships from local businesses. All donors will be recognized, he said.

The cost to golf is $125 per person or $500 for a foursome. The event includes:

  • Shamble format will allow golfers play 18 different clubs. On each hole, golfers will have the opportunity to try out the latest driver, hybrid or irons.
  • Golf, dine, gift & DASH starts at 9 a.m. with everything by 1:30 p.m. Plenty of time to get back to work or head home.
  • Lots of prizes—and everyone gets one.
